This apartment is located in the Hoola Tower in the Canary Wharf area. The owner wanted a refurbishment that suited their style and gave them the ability to work from home. We wanted to take advantage of the amount of light that comes in through the windows, so knew that mirrors would be a big part of the design.
What we did
One of the biggest features we added is the feature wall. This runs all the way from the front door, through the entryway and living space. The combination of wood, mirrors, wall fabrics, and soft lighting has created a flowing piece of art that lengthens the property. The darker wooden waves break up the white walls and add character to the room. The mirrors help bounce natural light through the entire property during the day, and the soft light gives the flat a good ambiance at night. Adding even more to the ambiance, we constructed a built-in fireplace next to the balcony doors.
The rest of the living space contains more mirrors to carry the light even further. The open plan space is used as a living and dining area and contains built-in storage in the far corner. The ceiling also contains bespoke lights built directly into the wall, as well as a feature light.
New Office Space
This room was completely refurbished to a new office space so the client could work from home.
The home office contains a long solid oak desk that wraps around the corner of the room and the window. This provides the owner with a flexible workspace and gives them room to spread their work out as needed. There are built-in draws below the desk, as well as open bookshelves above the desk.
This office is not only functional but has some great design features too. The feature wall behind the desk uses blue glass to again spread light. Whether from a desk lamp or the sunshine from the window, this will light up the room and give it a subtle pop of colour. The concrete column also feels like an interesting design feature due to the bespoke desk.
The Hoola Tower project combined many different forms of building work to create incredible features that enhance the space and create a comfortable feel. Our team loved working on this project and are incredibly proud of the end result.
